Scott Brown – Author
With a career in Outdoor Education and leading Adventure expeditions spanning 20 years and as a father of 2 children, Scott has put his practical experience of working with children and adults in the natural environment to print. Author of the soon to be released book ‘Which way did the children go? The 5 step Navigator method that connects kids to parents; people to environment‘, Scott has drawn on his experience of curriculum design, extensive risk management and as a Parent Toolbox facilitator in this easy to read and engaging book.
“With kids spending much more time on screens and technology, parents today are increasingly asking the question ‘How can I build, nurture and maintain deep relationships with my kids and build their emotional intelligence?‘” Scott says. This book is a practical guide for those new to camping and the experienced camper alike. “Many parents know of the benefits of camping with their kids, but have a hard time articulating them or putting them into any real practice. At best the outcomes are ad-hoc.” says Scott. Having been responsible for taking over 1000 students per annum for over 8 years running Scott is in a unique position to bring insights to the possibilities of engaging with your kids using the outdoors like never before.

“ Scott Brown is a warrior in the battle to connect our kids and families with the natural environment in a manner which is intrinsically linked to individual and collective growth. His experience in this area, combined with his exceptional insight into how to strategically plan wilderness endeavours provides an outstanding and simplistic framework for parents and schools to follow. In a world where young people experience excessive levels of anxiety, dislocation and depression, Scott Brown is able to articulate a solution which can engage their body, heart and soul in the beauty of the natural world.” Dr Steven Middleton, Head of Berwick Grammar.
